NIRWA has been involved in projects since 2008.
Community Leadership, Development and Mentoring Project
Its first project was thanks to a successful application for an Office for Women Leadership and Development grant which was auspiced by the YWCA. The project established an initial web presence for NIRWA and enabled NIRWA to hold three national workshops in different states across Australia, and develop a mentoring project for young CALD women.
Raising the Voices of Migrant Workers in Precarious Employment
In May 2009 NIRWA was approached by Asian Women at Work, NSW to auspice their Office for Women Leadership and Development grant to undertake a project 'Raising the Voices of Migrant Women Workers in Precarious Employment'. An Advisory Committee was set up to oversee and provide support and advice to the project - this committe was chaired by NIRWA. A sub committee of NIRWA was also set up to monitor the project.
